Choosing a ring is a precise gesture. Whether it's for you or someone you love, the right size makes all the difference between a piece of jewelry worn every day and one that stays in a drawer.
Here's how to find your size in minutes, without leaving home.
Method 1 — With a string or a strip of paper
This is the most accurate method and only takes two minutes.
- Cut a thin strip of paper (or use a non-stretchy string) about 5 mm wide.
- Wrap it around the base of the finger you want to measure — not too tight, not too loose. It should slide with slight resistance.
- Mark the point where the strip overlaps.
- Lay the strip flat on a ruler and measure its length in centimeters: this is your finger's circumference.
- Consult the table below to find your Italian size and the corresponding international size.
Method 2 — With a ring you already wear
If you already have a ring that fits well, you can use it as a reference.
- Place the ring on a white sheet of paper and trace the inner circle.
- Measure the inner diameter in centimeters.
- Multiply by 3.14 to get the circumference, or compare directly with the "Diameter (cm)" column in the table below.

How to read the size on CM Silver Jewels products
On the product pages for CM Silver Jewels rings, you will find the size indicated in this format: 14 (54) or 16 (56).
The two numbers are not redundant — they indicate two different measurement systems:
- The first number (e.g., 14, 16, 18…) is the Italian size, the traditional system used by jewelers in Italy.
- The number in parentheses (e.g., 54, 56, 58…) corresponds to the French size, which is equivalent to the internal circumference in millimeters — the most common system in Europe.
Practical example: 16 (56) means Italian size 16, corresponding to French size 56, with a diameter of 1.78 cm and a circumference of 5.59 cm. You can verify this directly in the table above.
If you are used to the USA, English, or Japanese system, use the table to find the corresponding Italian size and order the correct fit.
Practical tips before measuring
- Measure at the end of the day — fingers tend to swell slightly with heat and throughout the day.
- Avoid cold — fingers shrink in the cold; the measurement might be smaller than the actual size.
- Measure the correct finger — the dominant hand is often slightly larger. Consider which hand you will wear the ring on.
- For wide bands — if the ring has a wide band (over 6 mm), consider taking one size larger to ensure comfort.
